Insomnia can sometimes be caused by the constant feeling ‘I am never going to sleep properly’ often when a client keeps a daily diary and realise they do sleep more than you think.
As there is a multitude of possible causes of insomnia as with all my work I carry out a full assessment of the cause and reasons for the insomnia. The components of the insomnia treatment can include:
Sleep Hygiene and scheduling
In summary the insomnia treatment is to calm and relax both the mind and body removing unhelpful behaviours and thinking patterns around the presenting issue. Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy will encourage positive thinking and behaviour and so aid a restful sleep, together with learning and developing mindfulness techniques which can be used moving forward.
If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.
